The two small oil paintings, above, are by Ruth Harvey and up for bidding in the May auction.
Ruth Harvey was born in the small rural farming village of Halbrite, Saskatchewan in 1908. She graduated from the University of British Columbia with a degree in education in 1929. Although she painted wherever she went, she lived in Prince Rupert and her focus was Northwestern British Columbia and the local First Nations communities. She was a prolific artist who moved from medium to medium, working in oil, watercolour, acrylic, pastel, and linocut. She first visited the Cayman Islands in 1964 and divided her time between the Islands and Northwestern BC for the rest of her life. She died in 1984.
