Buying & Selling with 4th Meridian

All items offered by 4th Meridian’s online auctions are subject to our Terms & Conditions of Sale. All lots offered are sold “as is” therefore it is advised that the bidder preview each lot thoroughly and be satisfied that the lot meets their requirements before bidding.

Buyer’s Premium: A premium of 15% will be added to the successful hammer price of each lot. This premium is payable by all purchasers without exception.

Reserves: Buyers should be aware that many lots offered will contain a reserve which is a confidential minimum price agreed upon between consignor and 4th Meridian’s online auction, and below which an item will not be sold. The reserve price, however, will not be higher than the low estimate if an estimate is provided.

Estimates: Some lots carry a suggested auction estimate that has been arrived at by 4th Meridian’s online auction, in consultation with the consignor. These estimates are used as value guidelines only and may not, because of market forces, reflect the eventual selling price.

Bidding: All bidders must be registered with the auction house and have established credit or made payment arrangements in the event of a successful bid. Buyers will not be allowed to take delivery of items purchased unless these conditions are met. Upon registration bidders will receive a bidding number that becomes their identification during the auction and for all future auctions.

Removal of Property: Unless other arrangements have been made, all goods purchased at the auction should be paid for and removed from the auction premises no later than five business days following the date of the sale. Purchases not removed within this time will be subject to a handling charge as outlined in the Standard Terms & Conditions of Sale.

4th Meridian is always looking for collectibles, Canadian artworks, prints, posters, books, photography, and ephemera. We will accept individual works, complete collections, and estates. Please contact us to discuss any item:

We charge consignors a standard commission at 15% of the final online auction hammer price. There are no additional fees. Where a consignment consists of multiple items, each item is assessed and charged separately.

Insurance is the responsibility of the seller until such time as the goods have been sold. At that time insurance is the responsibility of the confirmed buyer.
