Desmond Loan arrived in the Okanagan Valley in 1955 with his wife Peggy and five children. He was an high school English teacher, potter, orchardist and town councillor. Keen to contribute to the cultural life of the Valley, he established the Okanagan Pottery Studio on Highway 97 in Peachland, which operated from 1968 through to 2007.
Loan and Peggy would create a huge amount of pottery in their studio, often working together on the same piece. The variety of shape and colour of their pieces run the full spectrum.
