This book published in 1941 was written by Albert Harris, a skilled horseman, avid promoter of the Arabian horse and at one time the president of the AHCR. His interest in the breed centered on their usefullness, endurance, and ability to improve other breeds. In this book he traces their history from Arabia to the New World and gives an interestig account of the horses brought to America by the early explorers as well as the influence of later imports on early breeders in the US.

This book wonderful also contains an account of the original HIDALGO and Frank Tompkins, his trip to the Desert and the amazing 3000 mile race in which he he outdid all the other contestants. The Hollywood version of this race was the basis for the movie HIDALGO.
