Best known as a Vancouver based watercolour painter of vanishing urban landscapes, notably Vanishing Vancouver, Kluckner is also the author of at least twenty-two books of text and illustration, many of them dealing with the changing face of the City of Vancouver. In addition he has illustrated numerous books for others during his more than 40 year career.
In 1991, he became founding President of the Heritage Vancouver Society. More recently, he has served as Chair of the Board of Governors of the Heritage Canada Foundation and Chair of the Vancouver Heritage Foundation.
