Ross Penhall, Lithograph, Lighthouse I, edition 44/50
Ross Penhall
Lithograph
titled Lighthouse I
edition 44/50
Image 16” x 13”
Frame 28.5” x 24.5”
Bright image of a lighthouse along a seawall.
Ross Penhall credits the work of artists A. J. Casson and the Group of Seven, Edward Hopper, Grant Wood and Wayne Thiebaud for inspiring his quest to explore the architectural space and light of the landscape. Additionally, the rhythmic shapes and colours in the work of Georgia O’Keefe have also been a strong influence. Nevertheless, the greatest influence on Ross’s life and art has been living in the high-contrast hillsides of Vancouver’s North Shore.
Penhall attended the studio art program at Capilano College, and studied printmaking with internationally renowned printmaker Wayne Eastcott. In 1995, Penhall continued his art education through extra-sessional studies at the Emily Carr University of Art + Design, during which time he began to work in oil.
New archival mat and backing. The image was rescued from acidic mat so some very faint yellowing 1/2” all around from the image
