Walter Dexter handsome pottery mug, reddish/brown hint of blue glaze with trios of slashes, signed Dexter, stamped Kelowna Canada.

3 1/8" high, 3 1/8" diameter, 4.5" to edge of handle.

Born in Calgary, Alberta in 1931, Walter Dexter received a Diploma from the Alberta College of Art in 1954 and went on to pursue studies on a scholarship at the Swedish School of Art in Stockholm. He became well known for his innovations in raku and stoneware and more recently for his unique designs of torso pottery.

Walter Dexter lived in Nelson and taught at the Kootenay School of Art. taught at the University of Victoria for many years and exhibited nationally and internationally, winning several awards for his work. In 1992 he won the prestigious national Saidye Bronfman Award for Excellence.

Excellent condition. We have three available. Listing is for 1 (one).
